Definitely, you are going to want to do your due your diligence in selecting a viable niche for your business. But it will actually be better to get up and running sooner than later. This way, it enables you to enter the market sooner, test out your ideas, and learn from your successes and/or failures. Also, if your first business isn’t successful, you can take what you have learned from those first attempts move forward with new and improved ideas.

Since I run a network, I am aware of new niches that arise and since i am an affiliate as well, I would want to get into these niches as soon as possilble..however, i will stay away from niches i kn ow little to nothing about because I want to come across as believable too. niche marketing is one of the best ways to monetize traffic but there is a fine line between picking a niche and picking something that is so narrow that you wont have a parayer of having stable traffic over the long run

Typically when someone researches a baby product, they are typically looking to buy that baby product. If someone is researching a tent, they may just be looking around at different options that they can compare for their next camping trip – not necessarily to buy that tent. Most of their traffic is organic, and continuing the trend of well ranked long form content, their top post is 8,800 words long (which is a beast of an article). If I had to take a guess at revenue, it would probably be north of 30k per month for this site based on traffic.
This is an Amazon Affilaite Website that has really niched down into specifically, as the name implies, kids tablets with Wifi. These are high priced items that produce high commissions in a huge market, children. What is the best tablet for kids? Do you give them an ipad? What if it breaks? Is there a cheaper option? These are all questions that this site helps with. It runs like a blog, but with a relatively simple design. It’s hard to tell if they have produced much new content because they don’t include dates with their blog posts. However this site is just one blog, with three additional pages for “Best Tablets for Kids”, “Kids Tablet Reviews” and “Kids Tablet Comparisons” all of which are likely keyword researched names. It’s likely the niched down keyword research to bring in the traffic, because the content while good, is relatively short with 300-500 words per post.
You can choose multiple products to promote. There's no hard number -- but when you only have a little bit of traffic, you're best focusing on 1-3 products. As your traffic grows and you get more customers and more email subscribers, you can diversify more. It really depends on how your offers are received. So when you add new products, keep checking your analytics.

Having been in the Internet Marketing business for almost 10 years, I must say that this was one of the best books I've read on Affiliate Marketing from both the merchant's and publisher's side. If you are looking for a book that gives you specific recommendations and pros and cons on which type of affiliate program you are seeking to deploy or participate in, this is the book for you!
I couldn’t agree more on the advice on providing long-form content. In fact, most of modules we created are probably still longer than the ones found on AuthorityHackers, and 8000-words is considered normal. With the difference being that since they are technical in nature, they probably take 1.5 more times to create than a regular post written in English. :)
